If you look closely, you’ll be able to spot Kat in teen flicks like 17 Again and The Roommate, but it wasn’t until she landed her role on The Vampire Diaries that everything started to change. “I was so broke when I booked it — I had 86 cents in my bank account. I remember that number specifically.”
While Kat’s personal style is eccentric and bold, she laughs about showing up for her TVD audition wearing overalls and Keds. “I thought that’s how Bonnie dressed,” adding that she even donned a red barrette for an extra innocent touch.
Starring on a hit show, recording in the studio, and shooting dance-heavy music videos, Kat’s certainly keeping herself busy… and she wouldn’t have it any other way. “At the end of the day, what makes me the performer that I am is the fact that I do all three.”
Fans of Kat as an actress may feel she’s devoting too much time to her music, but Kat insists that acting, singing, and dancing all have equal spots in her heart. “It’s almost like having a painting unfinished if I lose one. My goal is to have all three working simultaneously in my art.”
